Where is Langezandt Fishermen’s Village located at?

The Langezandt Fishermen’s Village, is a mere two hour’s drive from Cape Town, located along the Hermanus / Arniston coastline, a few kilometres North/East from Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. Cape Agulhas is seen as an area with historical importance, which the Langezandt Fishermen’s Village embodies by it’s unique traditional lifestyle aesthetics. The region has an abundance of historical and natural wealth.

Langezandt is situated on the 24 km amazing Struisplaat sandy white beach stretching right to Arniston, embraced by the warm Indian Ocean. Langezandt Fishermen’s Village is surrounded by fynbos reserves, cultural and historical sites, such as the Hotagterklip traditional fishermen’s cottages.

Hotagterklip’ is the Afrikaans for ‘left rear stone’. The unusual name of this little place comes from the days of the first ox wagon trek, when a stone outcrop imposed a sharp detour on travellers. The fishermen’s cottages in Hotagterklip have been declared provincial heritage sites. These cottages are featured in the paintings of a number of South African artists. Many of the old cottages fell into ruin, until original cottages were restored in the 1990s. Langezandt is proud to continue with the historic aesthetic feel in its development and future developments.
